Listen to lead single “You Got the Best of Me” from ‘Freedom’
Journey have announced their first new album in 11 years, Freedom, which is due for release June 8 via BMG. The 15-track album was conceived during the lockdowns of 2020, with founding member Neal Schon, without much else to do, “learning how to play keyboards and looping” from his home studio. “Some of those ideas ended up being songs. So it kind of came out of nowhere,” he explained in a statement.
The band are previewing the effort today with new single “You Got the Best of Me,” which Schon describes as a “punky rendition of ‘Any Way You Want It.
